Why Cedar Hill and Crowley Are DFW's Best-Kept Secrets

When people think of DFW real estate, they often jump to the usual suspects — Frisco, Plano, Southlake, McKinney. But some of the best value, community character, and quality of life in the entire Metroplex can be found in two cities that don't always make the headlines: Cedar Hill and Crowley.

Cedar Hill: Where Nature Meets Community

Situated in the southwest corner of the DFW Metroplex, Cedar Hill is a city that genuinely has it all. The city is home to Cedar Hill State Park — over 1,800 acres on Joe Pool Lake that offer fishing, camping, hiking, and water recreation that most suburban communities simply can't match.

Homes in Cedar Hill offer significantly more square footage per dollar than comparable properties in northern DFW. A buyer who might be looking at a 2,000 sq ft home in Frisco could find a 2,800 sq ft home with a large lot in Cedar Hill at the same price point. The difference is remarkable.

The Cedar Hill ISD has improved dramatically in recent years, with strong extracurricular programs and a growing reputation among families in the area. Combined with proximity to I-20, I-35E, and Highway 67, Cedar Hill offers a commute to downtown Dallas or Fort Worth that rivals many of its more expensive northern neighbors.

Crowley: Small-Town Feel, Big-City Access

Crowley sits just south of Fort Worth, with quick access to I-35W and Chisholm Trail Parkway — making it a commuter's dream for anyone working in Fort Worth or Arlington. Despite its location, Crowley maintains the character of a true small town: friendly neighborhoods, community events, and a pace of life that feels refreshingly different from the bustling northern suburbs.

New construction has been active in Crowley, which means buyers can often find brand-new homes with modern finishes at price points that would be impossible closer to downtown Fort Worth. The Crowley ISD has invested heavily in its schools, including the impressive Richard Allie Middle School and Crowley High School facilities.

What I Tell My Buyers

When a buyer tells me they want space, value, community, and a reasonable commute — Cedar Hill and Crowley are always two of my first recommendations. I've helped numerous families find beautiful homes in both cities and watched them fall in love with the lifestyle these communities offer.

If you've been priced out of northern DFW or simply want more for your money without sacrificing quality, these two cities deserve serious consideration. I'd love to show you what's available — reach out and let's talk.
